California Music Academy is the leading music school for children in the Conejo Valley. Our music education program focuses on the most popular musical instruments: Piano, Singing, and Guitar.
For almost 20 years, we ran the largest and oldest “brick and mortar” music school in the Conejo Valley. However, to ensure the safety of our students in the Covid-19 era, we have transitioned to private In-Home lessons. We continue to focus on serving Ventura County and the Conejo Valley area, including Camarillo, Calabasas, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Agoura Hills, Oak Park, and Newbury Park.
California Music Academy offers 30-minute private trial lessons to all new students. This is your opportunity to meet one our outstanding music teachers, who specialize in providing top-notch music lessons to children and teenagers. All of our instructors are university trained young performers, with substantial teaching and stage experience.
Furthermore, they are trained to customize their teaching methods to the student’s learning ability, talents, skills, personality, and goals.

We offer piano lessons for students of all ages and abilities from beginners to very advanced students. We offer every style of piano lessons from classical, jazz and pop. We have students who want to play just for fun and students who wish to become professional musicians. As we have so many piano teachers on staff we can match students with a teacher that works best with their particular age, ability, and interest. We start piano lessons at any age from age 3 onward. Our private piano lessons are one-on-one instruction and lesson lengths are 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour. For our advanced piano students, we have concert level teachers with who can prepare them for university entrance, competitions, and auditions.
We have many students who take singing lessons either by itself or simultaneously with instrumental music lessons. Students sing all kinds of music from their favorite artists to classical arias. Our voice teachers have university training in music specializing in voice and sing everything from pop and jazz to opera. Our teachers all have performance backgrounds as well. Just a sample of what a student will learn in singing lessons includes how to breathe properly, how to increase their range, proper pitch, how to project and stage presence. We provide a professional accompanist who rehearses with the students and plays for them at the recitals. Our private, one-on-one voice lesson lengths are 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour.
Our guitar lessons include acoustic, electric and bass guitar. We have an excellent guitar teaching staff and teach guitar lessons in many styles including rock to jazz, classical, pop, Spanish and chording. All of our teachers perform in bands, work in recording studios or are active composers. Our guitar teachers have university music degrees so they know how to teach the proper theory and technique no matter if a student is interested in metal or in classical. Typically a student would be 6 years old before starting guitar lessons, due to their hand size, but some younger students start with a junior-sized guitar. Our private guitar lessons are one-on-one instruction and lesson lengths are 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour.
We offer a wide variety of drum lessons or percussion lessons. Most of our students learn on drum kit. We have both male and female students and typically do not start drum lessons before the age 8 as students need to be able to reach both the pedal and the cymbals. Private drum lessons are available in 30 minute, 45 minute and 1-hour lengths.
Many of our students take piano & Singing Mixed lessons. Such lessons are very effective in keeping students engaged and motivated. We start Piano and Singing mixed lessons at age 3 onward. Beginners usually take 30-minute lessons while intermediate and advanced students take 45-minutes or 1-hour lessons.

We start Guitar and Singing mixed lessons at age 6 onward. Beginners usually take 30-minute lessons while intermediate and advanced students take 45-minutes or 1-hour lessons.
Our Saxophone, Clarinet, Trumpet or Flute lessons are aimed at highly motivated and committed students. Such instruments require a substantial initial investment and require relatively long daily practice. Our teachers that can teach lessons in many styles including rock, pop, jazz, classical, and improvisation. Lessons’ lengths are 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour.
